We welcome and look forward to hosting woofies. There are two ways to woofie at El Chilhuacle:
You are in between Bali and Uluru and want to have a bit of an organic farming adventure for a couple of weeks. We call this the "experience".
You are seriously considering making a living out of growing sustainable food and you are able to make a commitment of at least a couple of months. We call this the "apprentiship ".
In the first option you will be helping us with day to day operation in the farm. This will include tasks like creating retention walls, setting irrigation, preparing beds (soil, aquatic and aquaponics).
In the apprentiship, you wil get more involved in the actual design of the farm and your work will include all of the above plus researching and having responsability for specific larger tasks, like managing the greenhouse, managing an entire crop rotation patch or milking the animals and making cheese.
La Quinta El Chilhuacle has a very important element of food preparation and we encourage people who are drawn to the kitchen to apply. We make our own bread, cheese, yogurt, tofu and soy milk. As we develop our infrastructure this list will grow to include miso, soy sauce, beer and other fermentated beverages.
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate whether you are interested in the experience or apprentiship.
We look forward to hearing from you, and please let us know what special skills you have that could help move the project along. If you know how to keep bees, have built a mud brick house or can write J2EE code, you go to the front of the line.
